Mumbai, July 14 (IANS) Wednesday's blasts came just two days after the fifth anniversary of the serial bombings in suburban local trains in Mumbai that left 189 people dead and over 1,000 injured.

The July 11, 2006 blasts had ripped through seven suburban trains.

Wednesday's blasts also came a day after the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) announced the arrest of two Indian Mujahideen terrorists who were involved in the 2008 serial blasts in Ahmedabad and planting of bombs in Surat.

Mumbai and rest of India was put on high alert in the wake of three blasts in the country's financial capital Wednesday in which 21 people were killed and over 120 injured.

'We have put the city on high alert. Mumbai has been sealed off. There are police check-posts across the city,' Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik said Wednesday evening.
