Talks with Pakistan on track, says Krishna
14 Jul 2011, 2:57 pm

New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Thursday said the talks with Pakistan are on track and there is no change in the foreign minister level talks scheduled to take place in New Delhi on July 27 post the serial blasts in Mumbai.

"They are (on schedule). There is no change in the scheduled visits of Secretary Clinton or the foreign minister of Pakistan," Krishna told reporters on the sidelines of the meeting with Burhanuddin Rabbani, chairman of the High Peace Council, and former President of Afghanistan.

Serial blasts in Mumbai yesterday in which 21 people have been killed and more than hundred injured reportedly have the imprints of Indian Mujahideen, and the intelligence agencies believe that it may have strings attached to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba, which masterminded the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister of State, Hina Rabbani Khar, will be arriving here on July 26 and will be holding discussions with her Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna on the 27th. Indications are that Rabbani will be elevated to the Minister level.

Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan would also be meeting separately on the eve of talks.

India suspended the composite dialogue with Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

The talks, however, resumed in Thimpu last year, when Prime Ministers of both India and Pakistan met on the sidelines of SAARC meet.

In the wake of recent attacks in Mumbai, the prime focus of Indo-Pak talks will be on terrorism. New Delhi is likely to reinforce its demand of the dismantling of terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also be visiting New Delhi and Chennai on July 19 and 20 for the Indo-US strategic dialogue.

There is no change in the schedule of her India visit in the wake of multiple attacks in India's business capital, this was confirmed by the US embassy in New Delhi. By Naveen Kapoor (ANI)
